It's hard to imagine that I'll be in sunny southern California next week, getting ready to teach at the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach. If you're in the area, I'd love to see you. I still have room in my classes, although they are filling up quickly!
On Thursday, August 1st I'll be teaching my Modern Strip Piecing Class where we'll make a version of my You + Me quilt. I can't wait to see all of the quilt tops that we'll create that day! The class runs from 9 am until 5 pm, with a two hour lunch break between noon and 2 pm, and the cost is $73. Online registration is now closed, but you can register in person at festival, and here's a link to the course catalogue. You can find information about my class here.
That evening, during preview night of Festival, I will be participating in the Open Studios from 5:00-7:00 pm. I'll be creating some improvisational quilt blocks on the spot so that should be a lot of fun!
On Friday, August 2nd I'll be teaching a workshop on binding and finishing your quilts. I bind everything using my machine, so I'll be teaching the methods that I use to achieve neat corners, crisp binding, and smooth seams through the edges of my projects. This is a half-day class that runs from 9 am until noon and the cost is $39. Here's a link to the catalogue for my Binding and Finishing class.
On Saturday, August 3rd I'll be teaching an all-day workshop on Modern Improvisational Patchwork. I'll show a variety of different ways to construct completely unique and one-of-a kind quilt blocks. This class runs from 9 am until 5 pm, with a two hour lunch break between noon and 2:00 pm. The cost for this class is $73. Here's a link to the catalogue with more information about this class.
And finally, I'll be spending some time with the members of the Orange County Modern Quilt Guild and presenting a trunk show and lecture about my work on Sunday, August 4th from 1-4 pm. I'll be discussing my sewing and quilting techniques as well as my design philosophy, particularly how I often integrate tradition through modern quilt design and how I find inspiration in everyday life and translate that into my work. We'll be meeting at the Sewing Party in Laguna Hills and you can register for the event here. The event is open to the public as well and I'm really excited to spend some time with them.
I hope to see you in California!
