new batting

My friends at Pellon sent me a few different types of their Legacy battings to try just before I left for spring market, and I'm hoping to finally have the chance to use one this week. I'm going to start with their Bamboo Blend, which is 50% bamboo and 50% cotton, and I'll use it in the improv princess quilt that I'm making for Olivia. I still haven't exactly decided how I want to quilt it, but I'm thinking of something along the lines of straight line quilting (surprise, surprise!). I may vary the lines a bit and make them not so straight, but I always seem to lead back to that type of quilting when I do it myself.

I'm really excited to try the batting and I'll keep you all posted on my experience with it. I'm also going to be working with the folks at Pellon as one of their project designers, so keep your eyes open for more collaborations between us soon!

I'm really eager to hear what you have to say about this, I'm about to start my first large-scale quilt and was thinking of using some kind of bamboo blend. I was thinking of trying dream orient, have you ever used that? Do you have any opinions on it?

I've worked with this before and it's gorgeous! So soft and your needle just glides through it. The best part though is that you end up with a nicely warm, snuggly and super light quilt. I'm tempted to order a whole bolt I love it that much!

I almost exclusively use an Australian brand of bamboo batting and I love it! I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on this one :o)

Thanks so much for all of your comments! I still haven't had a chance to use it yet. I had forgotten that I hadn't made the back yet. Whoops! So, that's on the list first and hopefully I'll actually be doing some quilting on it this weekend. I'll keep you all posted!

Charmaine, hi! So good to hear from you. Yes, it's been a crazy/busy/exciting two years. Hope you are doing well!

Jennifer, I've never tried this before, but I'll let you know how it goes as soon as I get cracking on it!

Thanks again!
Heather
