quilty is here and I've got a copy for you!!

Hooray!!! Look what arrived on my doorstep this weekend. I received my complimentary copy of the first issue of Quilty Magazine from Fons & Porter, which features my Anni quilt. It's so exciting to see my first print publication of one of my quilts! Anni is one of my favorite quilts to date, and I'm so humbled by the kind words that Mary Fons had to say about it.

She writes, "Anni: A modern quilt masterpiece blends fine and folk art. Clean lines and color blocking make for soft minimalist heaven." Wow, a modern quilt masterpiece. Pretty cool and so amazingly kind. Thank you so much, Mary.

And look at the ad that is right after my feature. It's for the Fabric Shack, which is one of my favorite fabric stores located about 20 minutes from my house. I love little bits of serendipity like that.

I've had a chance to look through Quilty and it's a fantastic magazine. The first issue contains 13 easy quilt patterns (including my Anni), as well as articles on The Modern Quilt Guild, Quilts of Valor, and more, plus lots of incredibly useful quilting tips and techniques. I know you will love this magazine too.

So, would you like to win a copy of  Quilty? I purchased an extra one and I'd love to share it with one of my readers, so let's have a little giveaway. You'll have up to two chances to enter and here's how:

1. Leave a comment on this post telling me what you're looking most forward to making this summer.

2. Followers of my blog will receive an additional entry. If you're a follower of my blog, please leave an additional comment telling me that you are. New followers are welcome!

P.S. Please be sure that your email is either in the comment or connected to your blogger profile so I can let you know if you're the winner. Thank you!

That's it! I'll use the random number generator to choose one winner and the giveaway will be open until Wednesday, May 9 at midnight ET. International entries are welcome. Good luck!

And don't forget that you can watch episodes of Mary's show quilty online at QNNtv.com. Mary is hilarious and an amazing quilter to boot,  and if you haven't checked out quilty yet, you definitely need to!

I am making tote bags for the six brides maids in my daughter's wedding. I did it for my other daughter and they liked that they had something to put everything in and could easily carry from place to place. I put small things like lip balm, nail clippers, file, bandaids, lint rollers hand cream in them so they have a supply of stuff they might need.

The other two are still works in my mind till I know the genders, but I'm thinking one of them might be a circles quilt, raw edge and quilted all in one stroke...

My goal for this summer is to make a quilt or two and learn how to use the long arm. I moved it from my sister in Kansas. I think I'm going to be busy. Thanks for a chance to win this nice book.

I'm loking forward to finally making a quilt for my husband and me to use on our bed. I will have one month free to myself while my husband goes on his first "ride to the wall". It's a cross country motorcycle ride by over 300 Vietnam veterans and they will arrive in Washington DC in time for Memorial Day. The ride honors all those who were killed or missing in the war. After finishing our quilt I will then make a quilt of valor to donate.
