my Savanna Bop skirt

A few weeks ago my friend Thomas Knauer asked me if I would like to make something with his new line, Savanna Bop, for Andover Fabrics. Of course I said yes, and having seen some of the images of the line on Thomas's blog, and I thought the animals would be a perfect choice for a skirt for Olivia. We love going to the Cincinnati Zoo, and on our latest trip there this week, Olivia wore her Savanna Bop skirt.

Of course we were on the hunt for rhinos, since they appear in all three prints that I used.

We found this guy in the parking lot.

But it was so much more fun to see the real thing inside the zoo. He (or she?) was covered in mud!!

Here's a shot where you can see the three fabrics better. I used Quadrille for the yoke, Carnival for the main skirt section, and Mosaic for the ruffle.

And I couldn't resist sharing this photo with you! At 4 and 5 years old, this type of behavior is not usually the norm, although Olivia and Aidan do love each other dearly. They just don't always show it!

For the skirt, I used my own pattern that I designed and recently published with Simplicity. It is Simplicity Pattern No. 1906 and it's in stores now. The original version has a longer ruffle, but I accidentally cut mine too short when I was making Olivia's skirt. I really like both versions though, so we'll call it a happy accident.

Thanks again, Thomas, for the fabric. Olivia loves her Savanna Bop skirt! Savanna Bop is hitting stores now, and you can find it in your local quilt shops or at  your favorite online fabric retailer.

How cool that you have a license with Simplicity! I like the way you just snuck that in there :)
