words to live by

Your time is limited so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

Rest in peace, Mr. Jobs.

Happy Mail from Thomas Knauer

You know how much I love good Happy Mail, right? It's the best! My friend Thomas Knauer sent me a bundle of great new fabrics from his Pear Tree line, which will debut at Quilt Market this month and be available to purchase this fall. I'm working on a project with them in the Blush colorway, which is a really pretty combination of pinks, creams, greens, and some chocolate brown.

They are all great designs, but I especially love the pinwheel (above) the the kernel (below) prints. I think they would be fabulous quilt bindings!

But Thomas didn't stop there. He was kind enough to send me additional fabric for my own stash in all three colorways. How nice is that? Here is the Pear Tree in Azure bundle.

And here it is in the Sweet Pea bundle. All of the hues in each colorway are really soft and muted, which I think adds to the vintage feeling that his designs have. I can't wait to get started on my project with them!

As I was shooting these photos, I remembered that I hadn't blogged about another thing he sent me a few months ago. We were part of Cara's pincushion swap and Thomas made me this fun mushroom pincushion.

Isn't it great? I really love the patchwork top and the vintage button. It's too cute to use as a pincushion so it just sits on my desk, and I love it!

He also included some cds of children's music for Aidan and Olivia with the pincushion. They love them and they have quickly become some of our favorite tunes. Thomas and his family drove through Cincinnati this past spring, so our families met up for lunch at a local cafe. It was so nice to meet his lovely wife and adorable little girl, and hopefully we'll be able to do it again sometime.

Thank you again for everything, Thomas!
