I think what I participated in would qualify. I was a member for year of the Star Crazy Blog where we there were around 12 or more of us making the same quilt and we would each take turns blogging of our progress and showing photos and if we ran into any trouble posted about it and got advice or gave away.

I own a hinterberg long arm machine and created a block swap yahoo group and every 3 months we do a swap, recently I joined a geese in a square swap- haven't sewn these together yet though.

I've participated in swaps on Flickr that I found out about in blogland. Potholder Pass (During Quiet Time), 3 x 6 (6 blocks sent out and rec'd, a Int'l Christmas block swap. I've really enjoyed the moments of communicating with women around the globe.

I've never done a "bee." Not really sure how they work! I mostly sew clothes for my kids, but have done a couple of baby quilts.
By bee's do you mean a sort of online retreat? If so I own the Liberated Quilters Yahoo group and we have online retreats about once every two months. Great fun, especially as we are all over the world so the retreat normally starts in Australia and it's like a Mexican Wave going round the world.
I'm currently in three bee's that happen to be my ultimate dream bee's so I consider myself very lucky!
I'm in Patchwork 318 the bee, Cocorico and just became a Ringo Pie girl yay :-)

I haven't done a quilting bee, but I have done knitting swaps. My favourite was a Travelling Timelord Passalong, where a crocheted Doctor Who (David Tennant version) got passed from one participant to the next. He travelled in a TARDIS bag, and picked up souvenirs on his route. It was a brilliant swap. :)

I've done a few online "bees" but my favorite was a row robin swap. I still need to finish the pieces I got back, but it was fun to see the work being completed throughout the year.

One of the bees I participate in that I am most happy to be a part of is do. good stitches on flickr. We make blocks each month and send them off to a quilter who puts the quilt together and donates it to charity. I love that bee and getting to be a part of it!

I have been in a total of 4 virtual bees but the one I am currently in is called Bee Tweet! We started it on Twitter. Bee's are so fun.
